Neelkanth Palms is amongst my favourite in Thane's residential real estate scenario

Hi. I am not a resident, but as a real estate journalist (you may have read my articles in TOI PROPERTY PLUS CENTRAL, which is published every Friday) I have been at the Neelkanth Palms site when it was at the 'plinth' stage. I have seen the development plans, and seen them become a reality, witnessed 'work in progress' - and, it has been an interesting experience to see the project develop, to see it get populated and become a 'sustainable' community. With lots of inputs and information from some very talented and experienced seniors at Neelkanth, the 'evolution' of the project seemed to be an 'ideal residential real estate scenario'.

Then, reality kicked in - a close friend who is a senior official with the UBI was to move in, and his under construction flat gave his family cause for worry. As members of the Neelkanth Palms family, you would probably know which are the issues I refer to.

When premium projects by big names in real estate start giving such 'feedback', it is cause for concern. After the first issue was sorted out, My UBI friend has added a few more causes for concern as regards his specific flat, and my cause for worry as regards "premium projects by big names in real estate" has kept pace.

I have been following the blog entries, and it seems the basic issues regarding the 'cause for concern' might have changed over the past few years - but the 'cause for concern' remains a reality.

As journalists, we write reams in praise of a locality or project or a residential destination - usually restricted to the time when the project is under construction. Thanks to this blog, I am able to keep in touch with your issues and problems long after the project has been completed. In recent days, I think this one was very relevant: http://www.neelkanthpalms.com/2008/06/neelkanth-palms-has-major-water-problem.html?

It is something like seeing your nephew or niece grow over the years - and Neelkanth Palms is amongst my favourite "nephews and neices" in Thane's residential real estate scenario!

I wish all residents of Neelkanth Palms the very best in life. Do keep up the good work on the blog, and keep on posting the latest issues!

Ganpati bappa morya, pudcha varshi laukar ya

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the birthday of Lord Ganesh (Ganesha), the god of wisdom and prosperity on the fourth day of the moons bright fortnight. It is believed that for the fulfillment of one's desires, his blessing is absolutely necessary.

Legend has it that Parvati created Ganesha out of the sandalwood dough that she used for her bath and breathed life into him. Letting him stand guard at the door she went to have her bath. When her husband, Shiva returned, the child who had never seen him stopped him. Shiva severed the head of the child and entered his house. Parvati, learning that her son was dead, was distraught and asked Shiva to revive him. Shiva cut off the head of an elephant and fixed it on the body of Ganesha.

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated the states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and many other parts of India. Started by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaja, the great Maratha ruler, to promote culture and nationalism, the festival was revived by Lokmanya Tilak (a freedom fighter) to spread the message of freedom struggle and to defy the British who had banned public assemblies. The festival gave the Indians a feeling of unity and revived their patriotic spirit and faith.

Ganesha statues installed in street corners and in homes, and elaborate arrangements are made for lighting, decoration, mirrors and the most common of flowers. Poojas (prayer services) are performed daily. The artists who make the idols of Ganesh compete with each other to make bigger and more magnificent and elegant idols. The festival ends with pleas to Ganesha to return the next year with chants of "Ganpati bappa morya, pudcha varshi laukar ya". Thousands of processions converge on the beaches to immerse the holy idols in the sea. This procession and immersion is accompanied by drum-beats, devotional songs and dancing.

Happy Independence Day

At the stroke of midnight, on 15 August 1947, India became an independent nation. This was preceded by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's famous speech titled Tryst with destiny.

"At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance..... We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again."

!! WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY !!
